Thanksgiving is an epic holiday for home cooks and professional chefs—it’s time to pull out all of the stops for a delicious feast. We’re already planning our shopping lists, delegating dishes to our culinary-minded friends and family, and hitting the gym in anticipation of a may-have-to-unbutton-our-pants situation. We don’t take the Thanksgiving meal lightly around here.

Tradition often dictates the menu. We would never suggest that you forgo your classic turkey centerpiece, or grandma’s green bean casserole, or the perfect pumpkin pie. But don’t forget to stock up on super healthy, high quality extra-virgin olive oil, which will add tons of flavor and finesse to your holiday meal. Olive oil is a natural and tasty friend to many Thanksgiving favorites, especially paired with the autumnal veggies in peak season right now. If you have vegan guests, cooking with olive oil instead of butter means they can partake. Here’s how to up your Thanksgiving cooking game with a little help from Gaea olive oil:

A salad of bitter cold weather greens is genius dressed in Gaea Extra Virgin Olive Oil with a dash of Lemon, which gives it a zesty, bright kick. Plus, it’s nice to have something fresh amongst all the super rich dishes.

  • 6 large baking potatoes (about 5 pounds), peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • ½ cup Gaea Sitia Region extra-virgin olive oil
  • 10 garlic cloves, peeled
  • Salt and pepper


In a large saucepan, boil salted water. Add potatoes and garlic and cook until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork, about 30 minutes.

Drain potatoes and garlic, reserving some cooking liquid. Mash potatoes and garlic. Add olive oil, mixing well. If potatoes are too thick, use reserved cooking liquid to bring to desired consistency.

Season and enjoy!
